Darwen Library Players
Amatuer Dramatic Society
Based in Darwen, Lancashire.
Hello, good evening and welcome. Now that's got
the David Frost impersonation out of the way, I really would like to say a very warm welcome to our
site.
This is something of a first both for the Players and myself. For
the Players, this our first web site, and
for myself, it is my first year as Chairman of the Society.
At the tender age of 33 years I am probably the youngest male Chairman the Society has ever had, and initially this was quite a daunting prospect even though I have been with the group for 12 years. As with a considerable number of our members I only became involved with the theatre because I knew how to swing a hammer, and which end of a screwdriver to use; but the pull of live theatre soon had it's claws in me and although I vowed never to appear on stage( for 5 years at least), I am now a fully fledged and addicted , actor.
Having , for so many years,
performed in the old Library Theatre, imagine an old school hall
without the teachers and you get a good
picture of the original theatre, it is now a huge pleasure to be
performing in one of the best small theatres inthe North West of England.
Anyway that's all from me ( at last you say! ) now enjoy our web
site, and if any of you in the Darwen area
would like to come along and see what we are about, then e-mail
us by clicking the star below.
If you would like to contact us, but are not usually on the internet, you can also get in touch by telephone, by
calling on 01254 705850
